Volunteer Action through Direct ServiceThe Junior League of Los Angeles connects professional women with meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Our women’s volunteer organization provides both volunteers and funding to local non-profit agencies, creating community impact while developing leadership skills in our members. Annually, over 600 JLLA volunteers contribute more than 60,000 hours of community service to programs addressing critical needs across Los Angeles. Our well-trained women volunteers work with partner organizations to strengthen education, health services, and social support systems throughout LA County. Beyond volunteer service, JLLA has invested millions of dollars over the years in funding programs and agencies that improve lives and build stronger communities. This dual approach of hands-on volunteer work and financial support amplifies our community impact while providing our members with comprehensive leadership development and civic engagement opportunities. |

Collaboration through AdvocacyThe Junior League of Los Angeles empowers women to become civic leaders and advocates for policy change throughout California and Los Angeles. For over thirty years, JLLA has driven legislative initiatives that create lasting community impact, demonstrating how women’s leadership can influence public policy and drive systemic change. Our women volunteers actively engage in advocacy work, combining grassroots organizing with direct legislative action. JLLA members develop civic leadership skills through hands-on policy advocacy, learning to navigate government systems while championing causes that matter to our Los Angeles community. Legislative Impact: In 2007-08, the Junior League of Los Angeles sponsored AB 2810 with former Assembly Member Julia Brownley (now Congresswoman), landmark legislation requiring authorities to screen victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and prostitution to identify potential human trafficking victims. This groundbreaking law also established specific privacy protections for survivors, demonstrating how trained women volunteers can create meaningful policy change. Through our advocacy programs, JLLA members gain valuable experience in civic engagement, public speaking, and policy development—leadership skills that serve them throughout their professional and volunteer careers. |
